Spark

A website set up by Wiltshire County Council has come top in an independent survey of online resources for young people.

www.sparksite.co.uk was launched last November offering information and advice. It combines a website and online radio station run by young people.

The Youth Matters Project Team, part of Bristol City Council's children and young peoples service, held a consultation day in March for young people in Bristol. As part of this around 50 participants aged 13-19 used a number of websites set up by local authorities and aimed at young people. They then gave comments on the lay out, ease of use and quality of information.

The results put Wiltshire’s Sparksite well ahead of other web sites from places such as Leeds, Nottingham and Bristol.

Wake and Shake

Wake and shake is an initiative that has been gathering pace in Wiltshire. One of the intentions behind wake and shake is to increase levels of concentration and raise fitness levels within school, (in line with the government’s target on child obesity levels and increased participation in PE).
