Sport England Re-launches the Sportsmatch Scheme

Sport England has announced that Sportsmatch has been re-launched with updated criteria and a new online application facility.

The Mike Slade Sports Scholarship Fund

Mike Slade MBE, in his four years as a Salisbury District Councillor and as Chairman of the Sport andRecreation working group, had a significant impact on raising the status of sport and recreation in theDistrict. A Sport and Recreation Strategy was developed under his leadership, which later resulted inimproved sports opportunities and facilities for people in the District. Mike very much enjoyedparticipating in sport and was keen to help others enjoy the benefits of sport and recreation.

Sports & Arts Grants

The Foundation for Sports and the Arts (FSA) provides support for sports and arts related projects. Grants of up to £40,000 can be awarded to a wide range of projects.

Nike Player Panel

The Nike Player Panel will offer an award for small community based sports projects, led by outstanding young people in each region, with an emphasis on rewarding volunteers.

Football Foundation

The Football Foundation capital scheme funds the refurbishment or construction of changing rooms, grass and artificial pitches and clubhouses for community benefit across the country.

Coaching Bursaries

The Learning and Skills Council (LSC) and Sport England have put funding into sports coaching qualifications around the country with projects being managed by SkillsActive. Aimed at both aspiring and existing coaches, it will help them gain qualifications at level 1, 2 and 3 by subsidising courses which are recognised by the UK Coaching Certificate (UKCC).

Community Cash Awards

The Royal Bank of Scotland Community Cash Awards will see £1 million of grants being distributed by youth charity “The Prince’s Trust” to young people who want to run community projects in some of Britain’s poorest areas.

DOH Announce Additional Funding for Social Enterprises

The Department of Health (DOH) has announced a £27 million increase in funding available to help social enterprises deliver health and social care services.

Caudwell Children Enable Sport programme launched

The Caudwell Children ‘Enable Sport’ programme has been launched by Caudwell Children in partnership with Barclays Wealth to launch a three month initial programme to fund adapted sports equipment for gifted and talented disabled children to participate in competitive sport.

Colson Fellowship Fund

Grants of £100-£1000 can be made to individuals and groups participating in all aspects of sports leadership training.
