WASP Funding Forum
Wednesday 25th November saw over 80 representatives attending the second EFN sports and the Arts funding forum. The aim of the event was to identify funding opportunities for projects concerning the Sport and the Arts, and was well attended by people from the arts, sports clubs, as well as schools, community clubs, and those with projects in both the voluntary and statutory sectors
Guest speakers at the event included Nick Lockwood (Sport England), Emma Beeston (BBC Children in need), and speakers from Community First. There were also two case studies from Peter Wrighton (Sailsbury Sport and Physical Activity Alliance) and Peter Bates (Wiltshire School of Gymnastics) who have both been successful in receiving award for all grants, so were able to provide valuable tips and advice to others hoping to apply.
The event concluded with an opportunity to speak to the experts from:
Wiltshire and Swindon Sports and Activity Sports Partnership (Wasp)
various NGB’s (including the FA and RFU)
Sport England
Cultural Olympiad
Central Bidding Unit (CBU)
Charities Information Bureau (CIB)
Community Foundation, who all had their own tables, displays and handouts for people to take away
The event was a great success, Joanna Lane, Governing Bodies Development Manager commented
“For many organisations funding is one of the major obstacles in expanding and providing for the future. We hope this workshop has given individuals useful information on where they should go for funding, and how to write a successful application.”
