Equality Action Plan
This Equality Action Plan is based on the outcomes of consultations with under represented groups carried out to interpret and understand the data provided by the Active People and other more local surveys of participation in sport and active recreation. This Equality Action Plan forms an Annex to the WASP business plan and will be managed through the WASP Executive Board and Development Groups.
Equality Scorecard
Progress against the Equality Action Plan is monitored and reported through the Equality Scorecard which is updated for each WASP Executive Board meeting. The most recent update is shown below.
Equality Policy
Foreword from Partnership Chair
Sport and physical activity helps to bring people and communities together and can be an instrument for change and inclusion. WASP recognises the power of sport and physical activity to change lives for the better. Everyone should have access to the potential benefits of sport and physical activity, which is why equity, inclusion and widening access are key WASP objectives.

Wiltshire sets the Standards for Equality in Sport
Sports equality is about fairness in sport, equality of access, recognising inequalities and taking steps to address them.
Wiltshire and Swindon Activity and Sports Partnership (WASP) are committed to equality in sport and have published an equality policy statement which sets out the aspirations of the partnership with regard to equity in sport. This policy has already been sent to the South West English Federation of Disability Sport (EFDS), who were so impressed by the work they have asked to display the policy on their national Count Me In website as an example of good practice.
Equality Audit Research Report
As part of our work on making sport more accessbile to all we have conducted an audit of partcipation in sport in Wiltshire, based mainly on the Active People Survey data. A copy of this audit can be found on our website and your comments on it would be most welcome.
If you are in the business of delivering sport then you may find the section on the barriers that people face in accessing sporting opportunities particularly useful. We will now use the findings of this audit to produce an Equality Action plan which will drive progress on making sport more accessible to all.
